Among the rise of alternative movement and sound healing modalities, what makes Body of Sound unique is the combination of rhythm, voice and movement. He blends wellness practices and healing arts with expressive and performing arts to create a truly transformative journey. Alyssa DeCaro has mastered the art of facilitation and brings a fresh approach to a crowded field. Alyssa says, “Most of us crave connection, not just with each other but with ourselves. This practice simply reminds us to be human together. When you think about it, all of our most basic human experiences such as laughing, crying, experiencing fear, surprise, pain, or pleasure are most often accompanied by natural sound expression. We are sound bodies. When we tune our own instrument, we tune the whole orchestra and feel a sense of belonging.

DeCaro’s mission was shaped by major obstacles that derailed her journey and ultimately led her on a path of healing. Her life changed dramatically when she suffered several debilitating knee injuries while training to become a professional dancer. This devastating blow revealed how hard she had strived to blossom from the outside world, and so she began the journey inward, discovering the beauty of movement from the inside out. She has extensively studied and assisted Anna Halprin (Dance As A Healing Art) and Baba Olatunji (Drums of Passion), two legends in their respective fields. DeCaro’s passion for music and dance has taken her around the world to study various forms of cultural body music and percussion in Southeast Asia, West Africa and South America.
