Amarinder Singh targets Sidhu again, says he has no brain

Punjab Elections 2022: Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh once again hit out at his former cabinet colleague and State Congress Leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday, saying he had “no brain”.

Singh said he advised party chair Sonia Gandhi five years ago not to induct “this incompetent man” into Congress.

The former chief minister disagreed with Sidhu, who was eyeing the CM post in Punjab. Amarinder Singh had to step down as CM after a months-long feud with Sidhu.

Today, when asked if he said he would fight against Sidhu, the former chief minister said: “I said we would not allow him to win. Because he’s a totally incompetent man.”

“When the leader of Congress told me (over five years ago) to check on how Sidhu was doing, I said that this man was absolutely unfit to be a member of the Congress party. Yet they went from l before and inducted him,” he said.

Sidhu was previously with the BJP but joined the Congress ahead of the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections.

“From day one I said the man had no brains. It’s just a waste of time. I had told all of this to the President of Congress when she asked me how he would go to us (the party),” Amarinder Singh said. .

He recalled how Sindhu once told him in Delhi that he was meditating for six hours daily and he wondered if he was a stable person. “He told me he meditates for six hours every day and talks to God for an hour. When I asked curiously what he talks to God, he replied ‘just like we talk ‘” Amarinder said.

He said he told Sonia Gandhi later that Sidhu didn’t seem like a stable person.

“Sidhu was the only minister I fired because he was totally incompetent. He didn’t clean up and manage his records,” he said.
