She says the diet “is based on the Mediterranean way of eating and is rich in olive oil, garlic, fruits, vegetables, nuts and low-fat dairy products, provides protein in the form of fish and chicken rather than red meat, and is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, sugar and refined carbohydrates ”.

Dr Brewer explained, “The DASH diet works by increasing your intake of potassium, calcium, magnesium, antioxidant vitamins, and fiber, all of which help lower blood pressure.

The effect of the DASH diet can be profound.

If you reduce the amount of salt in your system, you “reduce water retention, improve the elasticity of your arteries, and help lower your blood pressure,” says Dr. Brewer.

However, not all products from the local store indicate their salt content.

Instead, check how much sodium they contain, because salt is made of sodium.


Normally associated with reducing fatigue, taking a magnesium tablet can “relax the artery and reduce arterial spasms.”

It is recommended to drink 250ml of beet juice to lower your blood pressure or to eat 100g of it if you feel like cooking it.
