How to use the new Mindfulness app in watchOS 8

[ad_1]

If you’ve already installed watchOS 8, you’ve probably found a few new features that your Apple Watch has to offer, but have you noticed that something is missing?

That’s right; the previously called Breathe app is no longer available on your Apple Watch. What happened? Basically Apple changed the name and turned it into a Mindfulness app.

Apple is starting to help its users improve their mental health, and mindfulness is the first big step. The newly named app does the same as the Breathe app, but has a few new features and a bright future. It’s also just as easy to use, although there is a twist.

How does the Mindfulness app work?

Mindfulness is quite similar to the Breathe app. But now there are three different exercises: To breathe, Reflect, and Audio meditations.

To breathe works the same as before: you set up a timer to begin haptic-guided breathing exercises on the Apple Watch.

Reflect is one of the newer exercises that gives you, well, thinking. It involves a kind of light guided meditation. Your Apple Watch will give you something to focus on, like the next person you’re going to meet or a thought that occurred to you recently. The goal is to relax, stay comfortable, and listen inward.

Last but not least, there is Audio meditations. This is the last option of the Mindfulness app. As you might expect, this is a series of guided exercises for you to practice meditation or gratitude.

The experts at Apple Fitness + guide these exercises, which means each one is sure to be great, but it also means you’ll have to subscribe to Apple Fitness + if you want to use it. Fortunately, if you don’t like mindfulness, To breathe and Reflect will be more than enough to get you started.

How to use the Mindfulness app

The only requirement to start using Mindfulness is to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 8. Then you will need to find it in your list of apps. The icon looks like a flower; you won’t miss it.

  1. On your Apple Watch, tap the Digital crown.
  2. Search the Mindfulness icon and press it.
  3. From there, you can select the exercise you want to do.

You can change the duration settings for Breathe and Reflect. Just do the following:

  1. Open the Mindfulness application.
  2. Select the exercise you want to do.
  3. Press the three points in the upper right corner of the exercise.
  4. Faucet Duration.
  5. Select the duration you want. You can choose to do up to 5 minutes per session of breathing or thinking.
  6. Once you’re done, tap the back button in the top left corner.

How to change mindfulness settings

If you have had enough of the Mindfulness app, you can change how often you get notifications. You can also change other things, such as the weekly summary, haptic settings, or even your breathing rate.

How to change mindfulness settings on your Apple Watch

  1. press the Digital crown on your Apple Watch.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll down and select mindfulness.
  4. Change any settings you want and when you’re done, exit Settings.

If you don’t like using Apple Watch, you can also change your iPhone settings as follows:

  2. Make sure you are on the My watch tongue.
  3. Scroll down and press mindfulness.
  4. Change any settings you want, and once you’re done, close the To concern application.

Advice: If you’re not going to be using meditations on your Apple Watch, be sure to turn off Add new meditations to watch. This option will automatically download new meditations when your Apple Watch is connected to power and near your iPhone. If you want meditations, you don’t have to worry about storage. The meditations you perform will be automatically deleted from your watch.

Track your progress in mindfulness

Just like many other exercises and health features on the Apple Watch, you can track your mindfulness exercises on your Apple Watch. Plus, you can track your daily activity on your watch or all your past exercise on your iPhone. You can also get a weekly summary on your Apple Watch every Monday.
