Jay Leno has joined Fireside, a new app platform for creators to host live interactive broadcasts, with his first event being broadcast live from a Las Vegas auto show on November 2.

Fireside, whose founders include Mark Cuban, publicly launched its app on iOS in early October. The startup promises to let professional creators – including podcasters, writers, musicians, TV personalities, comedians and more – host and monetize live shows (which can be video or audio only) with elements designed to keep audiences very engaged. For example, creators can conduct real-time Q&A with their audience and even bring someone from the crowd to the virtual stage for real-time discussions.

On Fireside, Leno (firesidechat.com/jayleno) will host a free live show as he visits his favorite car shows at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on Tuesday, November 2. On the live-streamed show, which is scheduled to start at 12:10 p.m. ET. pm ET Tuesday, he will answer questions from the audience and discuss his love and knowledge of cars. Leno’s inaugural show on Fireside will be free to users who have an account on the app.

“In my 30 years in business, I have been able to feed myself off the energy of audiences in stand-up shows, on live TV shows and on the streets of Hollywood,” Leno said in a statement. “On Fireside, I now have the experience of interacting with audiences in new ways, wherever I am. “

A famous car fanatic, Leno, 71, shares his love of classic automobiles on CNBC’s “Jay Leno’s Garage”. The TV personality, who retired from NBC’s “The Tonight Show” in 2009, also hosts Fox’s comedy “You Bet Your Life”.

Currently, Fireside is in “invite-only” mode: new users who register are put on a waiting list before being approved. To date, Fireside has attracted more than 500 creators, who are producing new forms of interactive entertainment not possible on other platforms, according to the company.

Other notable creators who have recently joined Fireside include Doug Ellin, creator of HBO’s “HBO’s Entourage,” alongside stars Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon, who host “Victory Before the Pod” on Fireside to bring audiences behind the scenes. of their “Victory the Podcast,” where they relive every episode of “Entourage” for the first time in 10 years.

Integrative Medicine and Personal Transformation personality, speaker and author Deepak Chopra also joined Fireside, with a show called “Mindful Moments with Deepak”. Live “moments” is a weekly practice where he guides the audience through a morning message or meditation. “We need places where we feel connected to a community. We need places to be together that bring us joy, ”Chopra said in a statement. “With Fireside, you step onto a frontier of endless possibilities with the potential to elevate our collective consciousness.”

In Fireside’s revenue model, the startup takes a share of the revenue generated by the creators. For example, for paid events, Fireside will take a 3% discount until a creator earns $ 30,000, when it will take 15%. Creators who host live Fireside shows can also stream them to other platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook.

“We’re excited to empower exceptional people like Leno and Chopra, as well as innovative emerging creatives through Fireside, and bring them closer than ever to their fans in new ways,” said Fireside CEO and Co-Founder Falon Fatemi.

Fireside is available on all iOS devices and shows can be viewed through a browser. The company plans to launch on Android in the near future.
