The Feel Better app offers a holistic approach to wellness and plant-based nutrition

There are certain elements that everyone must take into consideration to lead a healthy life. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, sleeping well, and making time for mindfulness and reflection are all essential to your overall well-being.

You can get help online for each of these elements of well-being. There are many apps and tech tools out there to guide and encourage you, but what if there was just one app covering all four elements? This is precisely what the Feel Better app, described as “The Complete Wellness App”, aims to do. Take a closer look at its features to decide if it’s worth upgrading to the premium subscription.

USE VIDEO OF THE DAY

What is feeling better?

Feel Better is the self-care app launched by the people behind the hugely successful Deliciously Ella herbal movement. The app started out as a recipe source called Deliciously Ella, which evolved into a full wellness space.

Feel Better contains four areas:

  • Receipts
  • Movement
  • mindfulness
  • Sleep

To download: Feel Better for iOS | Android (subscription required, free trial available)

When you first register, there are no intrusive questionnaires. Instead, a range of plans are offered to start your journey through the app. These include an introduction to mindfulness, a holistic Feel Better plan, and 7-day meal and sleep plans.

Plant based recipe planner

At the heart of Feel Better is the range of recipes on offer. Ella’s philosophy is healthy plant-based eating made simple. In the UK, the original Deliciously Ella is the best-selling vegan cookbook of all time.

If you’ve ever used the cookbooks or visited the Deliciously Ella recipe website, you’ll have an idea of what to expect. The app shares some recipes with these resources and adds many more, offering more than 700 healthy and tasty dishes for all times of the day and all seasons.

Recipes are easy to navigate as they are organized into categories. Instructions are clear and concise, cooking times and portion sizes are included, and best of all, there’s a meal planner section and shopping list feature.

With an annual subscription costing just over a few Ella cookbooks, this section alone is worth the expense. If, on the other hand, you want some free inspiration, try these YouTube channels featuring vegan recipes.

Move and feel better

There is much more to explore. The exercise section of the app is titled Movement, and it contains yoga, pilates, cardio, stretching, barre, and strength exercises. Classes range in length from 10 to 60 minutes, and you can save your favorites for easy access or to create a full routine.

All ability levels are covered, and there are specific routines to work different parts of your body, as well as prenatal classes. When you select a class, the app offers similar options. Again, everything is clear and easy to navigate.

mindfulness exercises

The mindfulness section of Feel Better aims to improve your mental health by offering an extensive bank of relaxation and positivity activities. Routines include:

  • Guided meditations for different states of mind, lasting 5 to 40 minutes.
  • Breathing exercises to help you start your day off right, find some calm throughout a busy day, or relax and prepare for sleep at bedtime.
  • Sound baths to give you a meditative audio experience.
  • Massage videos with instructions on how to practice reflexology through massage.

A rare feature in wellness apps, reflexology is a great addition to Feel Better. There’s a brilliant two-minute hand reflexology routine to help ease anxiety that you can learn and use whenever you feel tense and need to reset. A good alternative to try might be the Balance app’s personalized meditation experience.

sleep solutions

Finally, the Sleep The app section gives you two options to help you at the end of your day: Relax and Drift. The Wind Down section includes some of the meditations and videos you’ll find elsewhere on the app. Here, however, they’re brought together to help prepare you for a good night’s sleep. Drift Off provides a range of soothing sounds such as rain, ocean waves and white noise.

Unfortunately, there is no sleep setting available to turn off these soundtracks at a set time. You’ll have to rely on your own device settings if you want to control this.

There is a wellness tracker, called my tracker, included in Feel Better which lets you track your food, water intake, movement, sleep and mindful minutes. You will also find various articles and podcasts accompanying each section of the application to inform you more.

Is it worth subscribing to feel better?

Overall, this app packs a full suite of features. Although there are many similar apps available, it’s rare to find a wellness app as comprehensive as Feel Better. It’s easy to recommend Feel Better for recipes, exercises, and mindfulness features. If you’re looking for a better night’s sleep, you can find more in-depth apps to help improve your sleep.

A complete app to guide your well-being

Using apps and turning on their notifications can help you stay mindful of your health throughout the day so you can maintain good habits. You can also try journaling as a wellness tool to help you practice gratitude and mindfulness on a daily basis.
